Magnification is a process by which an object is enlarged, many times larger than its actual size. In this way, smaller details of an object can be made visible. For example, if you have a microscope with a magnification of 50x, the object will appear 50 times larger than its actual size.
Resolution on the other hand, improves the clarity of the object. i.e it increases the sharpness of the object. High resolution lenses will provide clear observation.
So what is the difference between magnification and resolution? Magnification will make an object appear larger but it is resolution that will make that object clearer.
